How to Keep your Bones and Joints Healthy

Keeping your bones and joints healthy is incredibly important. These often-overlooked items are what allow your body – in concert with your muscles, of course – to move and bend. Unfortunately, many do not think to take proper care of these key items until their mobility is already affected.

When you already have limited mobility, it is often too late. Now, before your bones and joints become affected, is the time to take care of them. Prevention is the best medicine.

Exercise – The Right Way

Exercise is great for your bones and joints, as it keeps them lubricated and limber. Some exercises, while great for the rest of your body, are hard on your joints. For optimal joint health, use these exercises:

There are many types of bone support supplements, but the one thing they all have in common is lots of calcium. Calcium is what your bones are mostly made of, and our bodies don’t process it as well as we get older. This equates to a larger need for the supplement. Your diet is also an integral part of bone and joint health. To keep your joints properly lubricated, you should ensure to drink a minimum of eight glasses of water a day. You should drink more if you are in a very warm or cold climate, are pregnant, breastfeeding, or ill.

The food you eat should include a balance of fruits, vegetables, complex carbohydrates, and lean proteins. Ensure you are getting plenty of calcium, omega-3 fatty acids, and Vitamin D, as these are essential to healthy bones – and will help other parts of your body also!
